And the Winner Is....






EMILY STOW!!! About a month ago, on a cold Thursday afternoon, Grandma and Emily were very busy creating a flowered globe to enter into the Rhode Island Flower Show. And guess who won!? She won a first prize blue ribbon AND one of 3 YOUTH awards for kids in the category up to age 17! Go Emily! We are all very proud!

As you can see in the last picture, Emily did all the work. Grandma just held the "world" for Emily and maybe provided a bit of artistic direction.

The idea was to cover the globe with materials that were mainly plant-based. As you can see, some kids didn't cover the whole globe; and some used paint to create the effect of oceans. Emily's was one of the only, if not the only entry, that used natural plant materials to create the "oceans".

Isn't it lucky that Grandma grows blue hydrangeas in her garden?
