The Wearing O' the Green

I'd like to send a special shout out to those celebrating birthdays tomorrow....

Happy Birthday to: (in no particular order)

Caitriona Cantwell!
Karen Sweet Hersum!
Michelle McCarthy!
Anthony Mazzotta!
Penny Yang (born at 2:33 am this morning!) Congrats Hans and Tiffany!

I hope you all have a terrific birthday and wonderful year to come! By the way, how has it been having to share your birthday with St. Patrick?

So, ya, I'd consider myself to be somewhat Irish. Mom is from Co. Sligo, I've got lots of fab relatives beyond and I've been very LUCKY to have traveled there many times. It's still my favorite place to visit and I love the smell of the burning turf. However, I think I'm all set with taking part in any and all bog-like activities-I've done my share! (Sorry Uncle Jimmy)

I've already decided on my green attire options for tomorrow. Have you? Wish it was a national holiday here like it is in Ireland. But if you're lucky enough to teach in Chelsea, Cambridge, Somerville or the Boston Public Schools, you LUCKY stiffs get the day off anyway, thanks to good 'ole EVACUATION DAY! What a silly excuse to drink green beer!!! LOVED having that day off when I taught in Chelsea! Never did enjoy green beer, but boy would I love a poor man's BLACK VELVET! Check out these various concoctions using yummy Guinness, thanks to Drink With The Wench!

March 17 is Evacuation Day, a holiday observed in Suffolk County[1] and by the public schools in Cambridge[2] and Somerville, Massachusetts.[3] The holiday commemorates the evacuation of British forces from the city of Boston following the Siege of Boston, early in the American Revolutionary War. Schools and government offices (which include some[4] Massachusetts state government offices located in the city of Boston, which is in Suffolk County) are closed. If March 17 falls on a weekend, schools and government offices are closed on the following Monday in observance. It is the same day as Saint Patrick's Day, a coincidence that played a role in the establishment of the holiday.

There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish and those who wish they were. I'm really weirded out by those non-Irish types who try to bake Irish soda bread and eat corned beef and cabbage. C'mon people; leave it to those who know what they're doing! And I don't want your nasty, fake Irish bread! I only want the real thing from Nana Brennan in Bunnacranagh. Now that was Irish bread!

Actually there are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Wouldn't that mean that there were 100 kinds of people in the world?
